While the exact date of construction and who built this
building is uncertain, it does not diminish its significance.
Andrew N. Olsen probably built the log portion in the late
1870s with Mathias Jensen adding the adobe portion after
1881. The log portion is built of hewn logs joined at the corners
with a “V” notch. When the adobe portion was added,
the log section was made taller as can be seen by the more
careful dovetail corner notching.
